BEYOND THE BACKYARD: HOW PROMOTING SUSTAINABILITY IS REACHING PAST A PICKETT FENCE COLUMBUS, OH

With the population of urban areas rapidly increasing, how can cities preserve their roots? 82% of the U.S. population lives in urban areas, a significant increase from 64% in 1950. By 2050, 89% of the U.S. population and 67% of the world population is projected to live in these urban areas.


California Greenworks, Inc. is non-profit organization chartered to promote environmental protection urban watersheds, community revitalization and economic development throughout southern California urban communities. Every year, they produce EarthFest LA Concert for the Environment, a music festival to benefit the East Los Angeles community. Recently, California Greenworks Inc. partnered with nationally recognized brand strategy firm, Baker Creative, to tackle the challenge of getting audiences involved to promote a more sustainable community.

With direction and assistance from Baker Creative, EarthFest LA’s attendance doubled from the previous year. “We appreciate the work and effort that Baker Creative has done towards helping with our brand and especially our cause of Greening communities one neighborhood at a time,” says Mike Meador, CEO of California Greenworks, Inc. “We could not have done it without them.”

California Senator Holly J. Mitchell presented an award to Baker Creative “in recognition of invaluable partnership and support for the 8th Annual EarthFest LA, and for continued dedication to promoting environmental outreach and programs that improve the quality of life in California neighborhoods.”

Baker Creative is dedicated to partnering with organizations that support green initiatives. “We are a green-certified business,” says Michele Cuthbert, creative director of Baker Creative. “We strive to conduct business in an environmentally friendly way.
